We will serve cheese and appetizers from 4:00 to 4:30, then start the program. A small donation is suggested for the food, and wine will be served for a $3 donation. The program will include announcements and a Humanist Moment before the presentation begins. Chapter leaders will also share our annual budget, a president’s report and our 2019 goals.
Program Title: Challenges of a 21st Century Water Resource Manager – Speaker Steve J. Snyder, Executive Communications Manager, Denver Water
Description: Denver Water is the oldest and largest water utility in the state, serving approximately 1.4 million people in the Denver metro area. But the utility’s scope stretches far beyond the urban corridor, reaching the furthest corners of the state as well as the western portion of the United States. This presentation will look at challenges Denver Water faces in maintaining a sustainable water supply as well as some innovative solutions to our water future.
Bio: Steve Snyder is the Executive Communications Manager at Denver Water. He works closely with the utility’s senior management on speaking engagements and other public outreach. He also manages Denver Water’s speakers’ bureau, providing informational and educational presentations about the utility, as well as other water challenges. Steve most recently spoke at the American Water Works Association’s Annual Convention in Chicago this past summer, providing insight on Denver Water’s efforts to transform the way it presents information to its customers. Steve is also a frequent contributor to Denver Water’s news site: TAP.
Prior to joining Denver Water, Steve held senior communication positions at several, high-profile companies in the public, private and non-profit sectors, including Denver International Airport, Frontier Airlines and Saint Joseph Hospital. Steve also worked for 10 years as a television news journalist in both Texas and Colorado, garnering several local and national awards for his work, including the Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalistic Excellence in 1995.
Steve is active in his community. He served as president of the Rotary Club of Aurora, and he currently serves on several boards. He holds a Bachelor and a Master of Arts degree in Communications from Baylor University in Waco. He is married with two children and lives in Centennial.
