UU Minister Ruth Rinehart will provide a historical overview of understanding addictions; the rise of the religious 12 step movement, why it doesn’t work, and a new secular 12 step movement – what works without a supernatural god. Rinehart says of herself: “I have been sober for 40 years and entered seminary in 2012 a typical 12 step theist. I graduated Iliff School of Theology as an atheist, and now identify as a Religious Humanist.
