Join the Jefferson Humanists April monthly meeting for the presentation, “Sex, Science and Sport.” These days there is a lot of discussion and debate about who should be eligible to compete in women’s sporting events, from youth leagues all the way to the Olympics. Roger Pielke, Jr. served as an expert witness in the landmark 2019 case of Caster Semenya vs World Athletics. In this presentation, Professor Pielke will talk about the many complexities surrounding these issues, drawing on his research related to this case and how it applies to broader issues in sex, gender and sport. For background, see his blog post at https://rogerpielkejr.substack.com/p/making-sense-of-debate-over-transgender?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email&utm_source=copy
Roger Pielke, Jr. has been on the faculty of the University of Colorado Boulder since 2001, where he teaches and writes on a diverse range of policy and governance issues related to science, technology, environment, innovation and sports.
