Are you confused by nonbinary gender terms and when and how to use them? How do you figure out a person’s preferred gender pronouns? When you use an improper term that doesn’t match a person’s preferences, how do you correct the situation? Dr. Zavaletta will offer a brief presentation which will include demographics, key concepts relating to gender and sex, and an introduction to inclusive terminology.
Dr. Vaz Zavaletta (pronouns: they/them) is assistant professor of radiology and pediatric interventional radiologist at University of Colorado and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Dr. Zavaletta serves as an advocate for transgender and gender diverse professionals and patients on several national radiology organizations. Accompanying Dr. Zavaletta will be two brief presentations. Nancy Bolt will speak from the point of view of a cisgender woman & 50-year feminist. Bronwyn Elisha will speak from the point of view of a young, non-binary person.

“Insects are so incredibly important in food webs…In terrestrial food webs, we often find that insects comprise some of the lower trophic levels — in other words, they’re eaten by lots and lots of other animals, and those animals are in turn eaten by others….Noise doesn’t just affect insects…It affects all those other organisms, too.” – Dr. Robin Tinghitella
