Humanists Helping Humanity
Building a Humanist Community
Our social responsibility group, ‘Humanists Helping Humanity” undertakes various projects to provide aid to those in our community who need help. With the Coronavirus quarantine we have not been out doing a lot of public outreach. Even so, we have done at least one drive for cold weather gear that was then donated to the Action Center. The HHH committee as been trying to meet regularly and we have come up with a calendar for 2021, that will include a science education drive, a gardening learning event, a drive to benefit LGBTQ youth in the summer, a food drive in the summer, and a possible garden harvest exchange at the end of summer. Right now we are in the planning stages and there are lots of places to share your own talents to help humanity.
Want to get involved in the Humanist Helping Humanity Group? Have an idea for a social action activity to help our community and others? Please contact HHH@jeffersonhumanists.org. Our committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Send an email with your interest to the contact above and you will be sent a link to the zoom meeting.
For nearly two years we’ve been collecting oral hygiene items and other toiletries for donation to The Action Center, a local non-profit organization providing help with basic human needs and pathways to self-sufficiency. The Action Center provides personal hygiene items to between 65 and 85 households each day so that these people can conserve their limited funds for more urgent expenses.
