FROG, by coordinator Helena
FROG, the Free thinkers Reading Opportunity Group, is the book group sponsored by the
Jefferson Humanists. We generally meet the second Saturday of the month at the Lakewood
Library from 2 – 4 pm. After 4 pm we have been known to wander over to a local watering hole
to continue our wide-ranging discussions over an adult beverage and snacks.
We are a very relaxed group. It’s ok to admit you didn’t like or didn’t finish a book. Each fall we
vote on books suggested by members to put together a schedule for the following year. The
schedule is sent out to everyone on the book group email list, and is posted on the Jefferson
Humanists’ website. (The FROG rules are also posted on the JH website.) This way everyone
knows well in advance which books have been selected, so books can be purchased or
borrowed from the library. If you want to be added to the book group email list, email
frog@JeffersonHumanists.org.
As members suggest new and interesting books each year, we end up reading a wide variety of
books. We have read science fiction, humor, philosophy, and memoirs. We have read about
evolutionary biology and history. Truly, there is something for every reader!
Our monthly meetings are posted on Meetup, and announced in the JH weekly email blast. (Email secretary@jeffersonhumanists.org to be added to our weekly email.)
