Jefferson Humanists Activities are posted on this website and on Meetup.com. All are welcome to attend events. Check out our calendar to see the month’s activities. Generally, we have a mix of social, activist, and educational things to do. We ask that you RSVP on Meetup.com or send a message to the designated @JeffersonHumanists.org email to RSVP. Thank you.
4th Sunday - 4:00 pm Monthly Program.
Like every dynamic organization, we have regular activities. At present, we have our monthly program, on the 4th Sunday of the month. Most months we have a speaker on a topic related to humanism or of interest to humanists. We meet at Common Flame UU Church, 14350 W 32nd Ave, Golden, CO (map). 1st Saturday - Death Cafe
The Death Cafe is a thoughtful space where we explore all aspect of the death and dying experience together. Sharing our experiences enriches our understanding and eases our uncertainties. Everyone is welcome to this confidential gathering of gentle spirits and curious minds.
2nd Saturday – 2pm Humanist Book Group
Join the Jefferson Humanists’ book group. Each month is a different book or topic. Come to the discussion prepared to share information. See Meetup.com for each month’s topic or book and the location and time. See also the Humanist Book Group page for a complete list of book titles and dates.
2nd Wednesday - 10 am Nature Nourishment World
Join other humanists for a leisurely walk or hike at your own pace, followed by nourishment and conversation. Conversation may be whatever comes to mind, or a topic related to Humanism and nature. See our Meetup site for specifics about this month's walk.
3rd Wednesday - 6:30 pm (unless noted otherwise) Humanist Heathen Happy Hour (4H)
Join your fellow Humanists for socializing. Check the calendar or Meetup.com for this month’s location. Look for the Jefferson Humanists sign at our table. Go to Meetup.com to see when and where the next Happy Hour is.
4th Thursday 7 PM, Sci-Fi Discussion Group
If you like science fiction, join us online on the 4th Thursday of each month to discuss science fiction short stories. We also meet in-person during the summer to watch a science fiction movie or two. Check out our Meetup page to see what we are reading and discussing each month.
4th Saturday 1:30 pm - Movie time
Join Jefferson Humanists for Movie Time! We meet every month on a Saturday afternoon to watch a movie followed by discussion afterwards.
Building a Humanist Community
The Jefferson Humanist Chapter of the American Humanist Association was founded in January 2014. Located in Jefferson County, Colorado, we are growing fast and hope to include many of you in our humanist community. Jefferson Humanist has a focus on, but not limited to, Jefferson County, Colorado. In addition to the monthly meetings you can connect with a monthly book group, a Salon discussion group, and other Meetups from our calendar. Your ideas and your energy are needed. You will find something to love about the Jefferson Humanist Chapter, just as many others have.
