Art Science Cultural Outing – CO Railroad Museum – Aug. 31, 2019
Railroads have played a big part in Colorado and modern history. Let’s explore the Colorado Railroad museum (https://coloradorailroadmuseum.org) and find out more about the first machine to propel humans faster than the speed of a horse and offer a means of mass transportation. The museum includes a 15 acre railyard with over 100 locomotives and railcars.
This is a family-friendly event and great for kids! (What kid doesn’t like trains?)
We’ll meet at the ticket office at 2:50 pm. Look for host Matthew Elisha who will be wearing a Jefferson Humanists ball cap.
After visiting the museum, we’ll go to New Terrain Brewing for a libation. (https://newterrainbrewing.com/; 16401 Table Mountain Parkway, Golden) New Terrain is family and dog-friendly.
Questions? Contact Matthew Elisha (president@jeffersonhumanists.org, cell: 303-898-5412).

The AHA’s states that humanism is “informed by science, inspired by art” and that “values…have their source in human experience and culture.” With that in mind, the Jefferson Humanists have decided to start a new monthly program.
Each month, we will enjoy a local cultural, arts or science event with our fellow humanists. We might go to a movie or play, attend a science lecture or museum exhibit, take in a festival, examine art galleries or listen to an author talk about their new book. Keep your eye on Meetup to see what is coming up for 2019!

“The railroads once were a dominant power in American life, for good and for ill. There’s something inevitably nostalgic about a train book today. Trains attract us, but part of that attraction is cultural memory. ~Brian Floca
