“Humanist Perspectives” – A Monthly 3rd Saturday Morning Series with Refreshments.
Tom Kellogg has studied and practiced secular community building for years from actual experience working with local groups and networking with others. He has written articles about it published by the American Humanist Association in their online magazine, theHumanist.com. Here is a link to the articles: https://thehumanist.com/tag/secular-community/ Tom is now completing a book titled, The Roots of Building a Secular Community – a Study of the Secular Movement in Colorado. He has interviewed most of the major players and AHA is very interested in publishing the book.
Tom will talk about the history of the Colorado Secular Movement along with a comparison of the successful groups, including the Jefferson Humanists. How did they get started and how are they organized? What is unique about each group and what do they all have in common? Branding is a major component of the success of any organization. Tom demonstrates some of the “Laws of Branding” and how they can be applied to secular groups for attracting and keeping members.
The talk will be followed by discussions and socializing.
Please RSVP through this Meetup, to Jim Bole ( randjbole@gmail.com ), or Tom Kellogg ( kellogg52@gmail.com ), so we have an estimate of food and drinks required.
