History
Jefferson Humanists is a Chapter in good Standing with the American Humanist Association (AHA). Application was made to become the Jefferson Humanists Chapter of the AHA and it was accepted on February 10, 2014. In our second year, we have over 100 members and continue to grow. Our focus is West Metro-Jefferson County and the front range foothills area though our members are scattered beyond this area. The Chapter was launched, with help from AHA and Humanists of Colorado leadership, by a small group who felt strongly that a humanist voice needs to be heard on many matters occurring in the west metro area.
Monthly meetings
Regular monthly meetings are held on fourth Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. followed by a supper at 6:30 pm. A typical meeting consists of a Keynote Speaker or Special Program followed by an opportunity for questions and answers. Then there is an Intermission with time to speak further with the speaker, browse or check out a book from our free Humanist library, become a member, signup for the newsletter, explore volunteer opportunities to help us build a stronger chapter, meet new friends, ask questions about Humanism or just enjoy a glass of wine.
At 6:30, we offer a generous buffet supper and the company of kindred spirits for conversations. We invite a $6 to $10 donation to help defray the costs of the meeting and meal.
